The different backgrounds are playing with using a bounding box or using a gradient as the background to emphasize the horizon line. It is interesting to see how by adding a bounding frame or erasing the frame can alter the meaning of the image.

DESCRIPTION

For the final project two projects, one from this class and one from the ARCH class, were clasped into one. Earlier in the semester a work of Dali was explored for the first critique in Computational Photography and the other project was in the ARCH class where the two sides of Carrer de Diagonal were documented to describe the life of the city. Therefore I wanted to show the two very different experiences of the Diagonal and use the surrealist techniques present in Dali's work within one image.
One section of the Diagonal was chosen, which was the section of Lilla to Corte Ingles. Using Dali's painting "Galatea of the Spheres" as inspiration for the surrealist aspect of the piece, six photos were used from the chosen section from the Itinerary ARCH project that would turned into a series of spheres coming from the Diagonal. A rendering of a map was used from the BCN website to articulate reality of the spheres springing from a drawn 2-D plan drawing. Afterwards different types of background compositions were experimented with in an effort to enhance the image.
