Final assignment

Due by Wed. of finals week:

Write a paper, 10-15 pages long, double spaced, critiquing LBD and/or SMILE and offering pointers for either (a) revision of LBD, as explained in "Putting a Learner-Centered Learning-By-Design Curriculum into Practice: Lessons Learned", (b) revision of SMILE, or (c) articulation of the ways one might integrate SMILE into project-based classrooms. Or choose some piece of LBD or SMILE to focus on. Do check with me (JLK) about your choice if you want to do that.

As you write,
  • Consider the readings from this term including Dynamic Memory, How People Learn, the Campione and Brown paper, and Marin Simina's thesis.
  • Use those to identify LBD's or SMILE's strengths and weaknesses.
  • Identify how to deal with the weaknesses.
