I found a Netherlands jersey a couple days ago. Anyone lose theirs?

  • Joaquin Reyes

I think it belongs to Ali Karimi... I'll let him know you have it.

Hey guys. Coldplay is playing in Barcelona on June 17th at Espacio Movistar. There's a chance to win free tickets to it. Register at coldplay.com if you're interested. We have until tonight (Monday June 9th) to register, and they'll announce the winners by e-mail on Wednesday June 11. More info later.

Hey everyone. The weekend we get back from our first week off is the start of Euro 2008. Euro 2008, for those who don't know, is basically a European world cup that happens ever 4 years alternating with the World Cup. There will be games played almost every day from June 7th through June 29th. I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in going out to a pub on the nights with good matches such as Italy vs Netherlands(June 9th), Czech Republic vs Portugal(June 11th), Croatia vs Germany(June 12th), France vs Netherlands(June 13th), France vs Italy(June 17th). If you're interested in a particular game, just post your name and which game you'd like to watch. Nice talk, see ya out there.
  • Kevin

I'm a big Netherlands fan so I'll definately be watching all the games. I think we might be able to catch a few in the Sala downstairs too.

If anybody is still wondering what to do for the first week, me and my roomate Ali Karimi are going to go to Morocco for about a week. We're leaving on June 1st from the Girona airport and flying into Marrakesh before moving on to Fez and Casablanca. We're coming back on June 8th leaving from Marrakesh and returning to Barcelona. Contact either of us if you're interested.

Hey everybody there's a great music festival coming to Brussels, Belgium called Rock Werchter on the weekend of July 3-6. A few of us are interested in going just on Saturday. Here's the lineup: The Whigs, MGMT, The Hives, Donavon Frankenreiter, Kings of Leon, Ben Harper, KT Tunstall, Sigur Ros, Gnarls Barkley, and Radiohead. Here's the website for more info: http://www.rockwerchter.be/RW2008/site/index.asp. Tickets for 1 day is 75 Euro. If anyone's interested lets try to plan the trip.
  • Chris

Hola amigos. If anyone's interested in Rock Werchter for Saturday July 5, we're trying to get a head count so we can book a hostel.
  • Chris

Anyone still interested in going to Paris for the beginning of the first week? Contact me ASAP for details and reservations.
  • Gaby Halley

Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone knows any websites for the cheapest plane tickets in Europe. I heard about Ryanair, but they don't fly to Amsterdam. Any input would be appreciated.

  • Chris

I have used these websites in the past
www.vueling.com/
http://www.skyscanner.net/
  • blacki

Some websites for the cheapest plane tickets in Europe are Rumbo, transavia, clickair, vueling. But for Barcelona-Amsterdam I think the cheapest is Rumbo.

  • Soraya

I am interested in going to Amsterdam also. I have looked at some of the discount airlines and they were still pretty expensive. If you through the Air France website directly there have rates starting from 123$ US Dollers, so like 80Euros or whatever. When are you planning on going?

  • Noah

I plan on going Fri May 30 through Fri June 6. Thanks for websites.

  • Chris

I plan on participating in the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona during the festival of San Fermin. The festival starts on July 7th and ends on July 14th, with a running of the bulls starting at 8am each day(?). I plan on doing it at least once. Is there anyone else interested in participating or just watching?

  • Kevin
  • James King (watching)
The 6th is the last day of one of our travel weeks, so I'll probably try to arrive Saturday (5th) night, maybe sleep in a sleeping bag somewhere (since all of the hotels are already booked) or just stay up all night, and then enjoy the first day of the festival (Sunday 6th), then get back to Barcelona that night.
-James

Note: The 6th is NOT the last day of one of our travel weeks

So the first day of La Fiesta de San Fermin is July 7th, which unfortunately is a Monday. However, I plan on participating in a running of the bulls on Saturday July 12th in Pamplona. It looks like a round-trip bus ticket from Barcelona Nord to Pampelona is about 42 euros. Come find me if you´re interested. -Kevin

tonight is the International Museum Day

here is what is going on in barcelona
http://www.lanitdelsmuseus.cat/

lecool quote:

Open Doors Noche de los Museos y Galerías

I would but I’ve no money, time and no one to go with… There’s always a “would” to stop you going to museums, isn’t there. Until now that is: the European night of museums and galleries. Museums will be open from 7 in the p.m. to 1 in the a.m., and galleries from 5 in the evening until the clock strikes 12. Free. CCCB, Pedrera, Capella, Jardí Botànic, Virreina, MAC, Museu Marítim, Caixaforum, etc. There’ll be concerts, guided tours. recitals, workshops and fun. it doesn’t cost a penny. We recommend Kawaii night in la Fundació Miró, where you are invited to dress as a gothic Lolita and pose in front of photographers, for the exhibition of Tomoko Sawada. There will also be live shows in the Planetarium of Cosmocaixa or the Voces literarias (literary voices) in the MACBA and other haunts. Yours “woulds” will keep your groove in the couch warm for you. But if you don’t feel like it, just not tonight, there is always stuff on tomorrow too./ Iu Peña Transl. by Damien Dillon

RCD Espanyol game

UPC has tickets to the RCD Espanyol game this Sunday (May 18th). The game starts at 9pm but they need us to be there at 8pm. The plan is to meet outside Onix at 7pm to head over there as a group. Please let me know (sclark at gatech.edu) if you are interested in attending so I can give them an approximate head count for the game. Thanks!

MORE DETAILS:
I spoke with Berenice and have more details about the soccer game. You may want to bring some cash for food, drinks or souvenirs at the game, but the entrance fee will be taken care of, so you should definitely come.

So if you are interested in coming, please meet in front of Onix at 7pm. We will then leave to go to the stadium together. The entire group has to enter the stadium at 8pm all together. If for some reason you miss the group leaving tomorrow but are still coming, please give me a call (696-590-543) so that we will know to wait for you before we enter (directions are below).

Sarah

Sunday's Wander |05.11.08| [tentative due to weather]

If anyone wants to join me for some more wandering the streets of Barcelona.
I will be right out front of Onix sunday morning at 11:30.

Saturday's Wander |05.10.08|

If anyone wants to join me for some wandering the streets of Barcelona.
I will be right out front of Onix saturday morning around 11am. I figure the wander will start by exploiting the fact that Onix is located right in the heart of the table top fantasy / comic book district of barcelona. Then our excursion could end up cutting through the bario gothic, the ramblas and el ravel.

Reactable Demo Tonight |05.09.08| loc: CCCB

if any one wants to go get a hold of me. i am meeting a friend there at 19:30.

For those of you who I told we couldn't use skype, I was wrong. This was just based on what I'd heard from people in previous years of the program. I have just successfully used it though on the connection here at Onix. So, my skype username is kingjpk if anyone wants to skype me, and my skypein number is (678) 608-2745.
