Retro Gaming / Emulation

These are sites dedicated to games for gaming platforms that are no longer in production. This is generally accomplished through specialized software that emulates the operation of the now-extinct gaming platform. Games and such are usually available in the forms of ROMS. The possession of ROMS is of dubious legality, though the emulation of the hardware platforms is not. Emulation includes not only home game consoles but old computers as well as arcade machines. (actually, pretty much everything is being emulated nowadays, including Xbox)

The retrogaming “scene” basically caters to three interest groups. There are those who want to play old games, there are those who want to program old gaming platforms (for example, to make their own games) and there are those interested in investigating the hardware that is to be emulated.
