GTL-CoC Budget Info

• $5000 iMacs + iSights
• $1200 color printer+supplies for faculty use
• $1000 software
• Plus $6000/year subsequently

Immediate Equipment needs

• 2 iMacs + 2 iSights
• HPCLJ 2550n plus toner/maint-kit for faculty use (available on Apple Store)

Ordering Equipment

• We can now order hardware from Dell France.
• Apple France?

Faculty Offices

• Are computers provided in the faculty offices? Probably not.

Macintosh Support

• No intentional Mac installations to present.
• Faculty will need administrator access

Wired Network

• Switch has been recently upgraded to a Cisco 6500.
• GTL is charged for bandwidth, but CoC is not
• The current network is mainly switched 100mb to the wall plate except a few 10mb ports still hanging around.
• Offices are given two live connections.
• The locale is treated as one subnet that is not currently "friendly" to campus. However, a site to site VPN blade is possible.

Wireless Network

• No wireless network at present.
• OIT performed a wireless survey Summer 2004

Instructional PC Cluster

• This is a shared resource between ME and ECE.
• Purchased by CoE?
• Recently updated (May 2004) to 25 Dell seats running XP
• What applications are installed?
• 1 network printer
• CoC Courses needing cluster access:
  • CS6010 (Design) - MS Office
  • CS6300 (SW Eng/Procs) - MS Office, Java IDE, Rational Rose (or some UML environment)
• Are there computer requirements for incoming MS students?

Backend Server Environment

• NT 4 domain with the std. PDC and BDC

User Accounts

• GTL user accounts?
• CoC user accounts will happen automatically for CoC MS students
• OIT/Prism accounts should happen automatically too

• Will be needed for some course CGI programming
