Using the Camera in Your Classroom
DITC Swiki
Vignettes of New Sequences
Bryan Kelley
Overview: The video will look like a standard demonstration video:
everything on a tripod and very well lit. I will have a narrator (probably
me) leading the viewer through the process, and a single or maybe two actors
in an empty classroom acting out what should be done regarding setup and the
like. I'd like to keep the video in a controlled environment as much as
possible. An example is:
Voiceover: "A videographer must always be mindful of audio levels."
Then you see the person standing behind the camera, then an over the should
shot of him checking visual levels.
Voiceover: "Not all cameras have visible audio meters, so monitoring the
audio in a pair of headphones is necessary."
Then you see the person listening to headphones.
I think all of this can and should be done in an empty classroom. Then we
can interject examples of, say, clipping audio or shakey cam or whatever
seems appropriate. We can pull these examples from existing footage and save
some time, cutting down the shooting time to a day or so.
I'm still working on the actual script, but the ouline is as follows:
