Directory Needs To Be Deleted
- There is a folder labeled dev_new/ in our site directory. I cannot delete it. It has David's user name as the owner and the group permissions are not set properly (see Development Directory). This needs to be deleted entirely as it is old stuff and new changes have been made numerous time since then. Plus there should only be one dev/ directory to make sure what's on there is the most current. older versions should be backed up in the appropiately named folder on a developers own machine, not the server.

- Image names for Science timeline:
- (There is a #b associated with each of these files, i.e. teachScience1b.gif, these images will need to be added to the preLoad when ready. I left them out because I wasn't sure if the timeline would be different, i.e. different blank spots or file names. I can add those very quickly though when the time comes.)
- teachScience1a.gif 110x146
- teachScience2a.gif 72x146
- teachScience3a.gif 72x146
- teachScience4a.gif 72x146
- teachScience5.gif 72x146 (no 5b, this is a blank spot like in the Tech Ed timeline)
- teachScience6a.gif 72x146
- teachScience7a.gif 106x146
- studScience1a.gif 110x146
- studScience2a.gif 72x146
- studScience3a.gif 72x146
- studScience4a.gif 72x146
- studScience5a.gif 72x146
- studScience6.gif 72x146 (no 6b, this is a blank spot like in the Tech Ed timeline)
- studScience7a.gif 106x146

- Question:
- What is that THUMBS.DB in the images directory?
- It appears to be something that is put in by the mac when burning to a cd, that is the only time I see it appearing. It's not need and I try to delete it every time, but sometimes I forget.

- 1. See if there is a difference in the gif files for student work days 1-4 rollover versus day 5 or 7, which did not have the problem of extending 1 pixel down.
- Timeline rollovers fixed. All Timeline images are 119 pixels in height (even though the code specifies 120, this needs to be changed but is fine for now). The 4 problem images had a height of 120 for the grey images which was causing the stretch. Done.
- 2. Can you suggest a fix for the maroon rollover not switching back to gray in Netscape?
- I'm not seeing where this is occuring.
- 3. Write a sentence or short paragraph on using Acrobat Reader for "menu11/using.htm", and place the QuickTime and Acrobat icons, and make the main textblock more narrow for this page only.
- Done. Please check my text block against the one currently up. I took out some extra phrasing that I didn't feel was needed. Just need to state the point. Perhaps the other one can be changed or mine might have to be elaborated. Let me know.
- I cannot change the textblock width for this page only, it is Template driven. Changing it would affect all pages derived from that Template. I'm assuming the change would be beneficial for all pages, but I didn't take any action on this at this time.
- The address will change and the icons will be there as soon as David fills out the Adobe Acrobat agreement online and gets back to me with that information.
- Also, I'd recommend against the use of the word "disk" when dealing with our online site. Our web site is not a disk but the "Using" sections makes numerous references to CD, disk, etc. Perhaps "Using DTIC" would be a better title.
- 4. Suggest 3-4 links for the right-hand side banner (relates to #8 above and Rusty's comments.)
- Sitemap
- Contact
- Getting Started
- Complete Movie List
- I'd suggest these because they seem to be Secondary content (see the research on Concord for more about that). I'd also make the DITC logo in the upper left a link to the home page. That way we can do-away with the "Home" link. Also, Video Comparisions may be a choice for the top 4 links. It too seems to fall into the Secondary link category.

NEWER EDITS for 8.30.02
8/30 1. We need to change the names of the T_Dayx movies so that they conform to the existing standard. Could you make T_Day1.mov into tDay1.mov, through T_Day7.mov for all references to all of those movies, mainly the Timeline and the MovieList, but elsewhere as needed.
2. Show me your suggestion for #8 that you mention below in your comments.
8/30 3. BIG PROBLEM: Rollovers do not work in IE on the Mac – graphics disappear when entering the lower row. Whole Timeline
8/30 4. CHANGE TO top row menu is wrong in a few respects: A. I wanted the underline to stay adn for the letter to go bold but instead the underline is disappearing and the bold does not show up on either browser. I would like the text to GET BIGGER, as you can see on "http://swiki.cc.gatech.edu:8080/DITC/22". B. When you are on pages within the subsection, I wanted the subsection title (on the two-line menu) to remain bold or enlarged, so that people know where they are. This has not been implemeneted.
8/30 5. Play movie button takes two lines on page "menu31/tutorial.htm".
EDITS for 8.28.02
8/28 1. Put sReport1.pdf - sReport5.pdf in the docs folder and link to the colored boxes you created for menu23/reports.
8/28 2. Put the following documents related to LBD in doc folder for use on page menu12/parchal.htm – parChall.pdf, parScien.pdf. Rearragne this page so that it can accommodate three pdf files.
8/28 3. Put the following documents related to LBD in doc folder for use on page menu12/ldes.htm – lbdIntro.pdf, lbdDiary.pdf, lbdProcess.pdf.
4.Implement error message for those who do not have QuickTime and Acrobat reader.
5. Implement mouseup fix on Timeline.
8/29 6. Update names on MovieList to correspond the titles of movies seen when on first frame of movie. Use 2-line approach if it looks good on both browsers.
8/29 7. Create a sitemap page.
8/29 8. Offer suggestions for what titles to put as clickable graphics in the right-hand portion of each banner page.
8/29 9. Look at page " " for ideas for #8.
8/28 10. Change the top navigation selection "Classroom Videos in Sequence" to "Video Timeline".
8/29 11. Make the submenu title in top navigation bold when visiting either the submenu main page, or any of its subinfo pages. When at the submenu main page, this title should NOT be underlined. When at any subinfo pages, this title should be bold and underlined.
8/28 12. For all cards within menu12, make sure the left-hand menu has a TM next to Learning By Design.
8/28 13. Find an icon for documents, same size as the movie camera, for all documents, except the DTIC flyer on menu11/intro.
Rusty's Comments
For #8, I wouldn't go much beyond a simple little addition to the banner of sitemap and contact at the bottom right of it. I think it would flow well for this edition of the site. You could use the free space that is there now and break the banner up into 3 parts, one for the banner title, then a graphic for the sitemap that would jut against the title, and then contact graphic that would jut against the sitemap graphic.
For #4 and #5 I couldn't find a good error script to put in there, but what I have seen from some testing around here is that whenever the plug-in isn't installed on a computer, the computer will throw an error to the user for them to be able to click on the box that comes up and it downloads the plug-in for them. I'm not 100% sure on this and I will work on it more, I just ran out of time due to an overload of classwork due tomorrow (Fri. 8/30)
For the mouseUp on the timeline, I couldn't get it to work without conflicting with the javascript that causes the mouseovers that are allready in place. From what I can see, it is only on that version that you have that that error is caused. It's strange I know. Also, only on your version do the graphics not work for the first 4 days of student work on the timeline.
