Will To Do
Notes about completed/uncompleted tasks:
Cranes:
There were several sequences created for the Cranes Project. The Project file is titled Cranes v3.0 and the most recent sequences are:
- craneOverV v.2
- craneIntro
- craneWork
- craneDemos
- craneReflect
(this is the order I see in the timeline)
All of these sequences have been rendered with the watermark and timecode, and you have reviewed them several times. I have made all the changes that you requested. The following are the most recent changes which have been completed:
- All wipes have been reduced to 7 frames, and the direction reversed
- All subtitles have been lowered and quotations removed
craneIntro:
- Crane pictures at beginning have been redone
- Cross dissolves added to all broll cuts
- brole of teachers listening to Bernie have been added during role descriptions
craneWork:
- A couple of the subtitles have been shifted to remove … and keep title safe
- Added more text to subtitle of last question asked by one of the program leaders
craneDemos:
- Moved the joke in first presentation to the end of his presentation
- Placed clips of 3rd group at beginning and ending titles
craneReflect:
- Added subtitles to first question’s respondent
- Added brole of crane to second question’s response
- Added fade to black to cover for a glitch in either the capture or the actual recording
craneOverV v.2
- switched out crane still at beginning
- fixed subtitles to match craneWork
- added brole of crane used in craneReflect at corresponding clips
All of these sequences should be ready for exportation and cleaning pending any other changes you desire.
Bernie Interview:
I have logged and capture tape BZ07, which holds an interview with Bernie. I have created several sequences within the Cranes project and placed relevant clips into those sequences. I have cut the clips to only focus on the information I thought was important, however I have not done any other real editing. These sequences are extremely rough but they can be used to quickly find a lot of the key concepts in the interview.
7-20-04
Redid timecode, watermark, begin and end slate, subtitles and other changes discussed with David on Friday. Left sequences to render with timecode at end of day.
7-16-04
Reviewed Crane Videos with David
Notes on craneOverview:
center title, make it larger, background at 50% (Apply to all crane videos)
Change name to "Quick Peek: Model Crane Design"
add second slate with: Bernie Zubrowski ran a workshop in Newton, Massachusetts where he had teachers working on DesignIt! curriculum. DITC shows the model crane design task in action with teachers.
fade title before fade out background picture
change the background picture for slate
use more Bernie talking about ten teams
– looked into this, however, did not find anything else which useful
when bringing up subtitles, wait about 15 frames after a transition, (should also apply to craneWork video)
split up subtitles that take up more than three lines (apply to craneWork)
subtitles of people not in frame should be italicized (apply to craneWork)
check subtitle at 1:37, may not be necessary
–checked this using speakers, decided to keep subtitle
switch the order of the presenters
raise volume at 2:40ish
move Bernie comment about eraser to before the male group demo
– could not find Bernie comment about eraser, check with David
end slate should be freeze frame of last frame at 50% and title over (Apply to all crane videos).
Notes on craneReflect
Drop first 4 seconds of video, start at 0:07
take out camera bounce around 0:47 seconds - use freeze frame and fade up to do this
Notes on craneWork
see above notes for subtitle changes
faster wipes in all wipe transitions
move the group presentation to groupDemos
completed changes on craneOverview, see – in notes for questions which arose.
7.12.04
1. Cranework.mov
Overall, I like your cuts. Good job.
0:00 Make initial frame a freeze frame and begin with it in the sequence.Slate should read: Teachers' Crane Design
0:10 Make the font bigger so that most of the subtitles fill out two full lines (at least based on what I am seeing in the first half minute). The font needs shadow as background to make it more readable. You need to open up another sequence with subtitles (see sWorkDay1 in the Goldman folder, Timeline project, and then copy the numbers for Motion onto a sheet of paper, and type them into the specs for your font. Or use another sequence that has subtitles.) 0 Make the transition which brings in and ends the subtitle a bit faster – no more than 3 frames for subtitled transitions. Right now the font is not readable in its compressed form.
0:19 Have the subtitle go away just before the softwipe and then have the next subtitle appear just after the softwipe is finished. Actually do a fade in-fade out rather than a softwipe.
1:25 Make the subtitle fill out 3 lines.
3:23 Somewhat weak ending, which I assume you recognize. Is there some footage from Bernie talking that might work regarding closure here?
END - Once these items are done, put a title, timecode, watermark and copyright on the sequence.
2. CraneReflect.mov
0:00 Take a freeze frame from around 1:04 and begin with it in the sequence. Slate should read: Teachers Reflect On Crane Designs
END - Once these items are done, put a title, timecode, watermark and copyright on the sequence.
Notes on Bernie Interview
Create one sequence titled introDesignIt
Create one sequence on philosophy of Design it (maybe combine with intro)
Create designItTM (design it teacher materials) - use clips from 13 or 14
Create bernieSelfReflect - use media at 00:30:54:00, clip 15; PUT with Toni movie
Create backDesign - use clips 24 and 25
Add to Roles video using BZ03 tape - title this video ditcRoles
