6.17.03 1. The slate in the beginning of tDay7.mov disappears after 1.5 seconds and then reappears, slightly altered. Please drop the title's reappearance.
2. Redo the movie on Biggest Is Not Always Best – I believe it is inflate.mov that needs to have a slug removed.

2.6.03 Redo collapsePar.mov so that after each normal speed drop, we see the drop in 2-3 times slow motion (you pick).

2.6.03 In the first clip in the movie "layersCanopy.mov" I believe that the slow-motion of the same girl that follows is of a different drop. Please check this for me.

In all of the hubbub last week, I found that I never processed the movie called trueTest or authTest, and that had the new footage from Ed G's final testing. I need this to be done and am wondering if you can go in and just slap it together this weekend. Do you know which sequence I am talking about in Interview v116? In addition and on the same topic, it would be really great to have one example from Ed's class of students giving their final presentations to put somewhere in this timeline.

Now some details on the new set of short movies that we completed in record time.

Inflation.mov – there is a problem with the movie inflation.mov. It has a big slug, 20 seconds long, in it. The compressed movie looks like it is running at 15 fps rather than 30, which might be a Cleaner and not a FCP issue. Look at the compressed movie to see what I mean.

Frames.mov – there was supposed to be a third case, taken of four girls in Marc B's class who had a half-sphere shaped chute. Right now, frames.mov is too short. Put a title for the first drop – Straw Frame for the Strings. The second title should be - Triangular Frame for the Canopy. The third should read "Circular Frame for the Canopy" (when you get the footage.)

layersCanopy.mov – The same problem appears of lower frame count in the beginning of the clipl. A second problem with layersCanopy.mov is that the first case's slow motion does not match the regular speed version.

collapsePar.mov - Same problem with early portion of film being 15 frames. May need to kick up the data thru rate.

I would like all of the above movies to show each case at regular speed and slow motion.

Finally, I want one new movie that uses existing footage but employs hotspots with the parachute drops to focus teachers' attention on features in the drop. I would like two hotspot colors (something different than before): one representing oscillating and the other indicating the loss of full inflation. There needs to be an explanatory title telling what the hotspots represent, something like, "In the following drops, a colored circle will let you focus on how the parachute flies. Blue will indicate oscillating, and red will show those moments when the chute is partially or completely collapsing." I want the hotspots to be used only with the slow-motion version of the cases we show. I'll call in the shots from the above movie that I would like to be included in this new sequence, entitled something like "Focusing On Parachute Flight" or something like that.

Call me and let me know what you can do and when. I'm driving from Mass to DC on Saturday and will be in DC until Jan 29.


1.21.03 Coordinate with Cliff to make sure that all of the movies you've done are included in mList, so that he can insure that we have the very latest movies on the website. PLEASE check that the collection of films in the folder "fullMovies" on "Goldman HD2" and "DITC HD1" are standalone movies, and the most recent versions of movies. For instance, chalPhyS is dated Nov 11 02 in both of these drives, and I know we've a more recent version.

1.21.03 The HowParWk.mov got compressed at too large a size – could you check the settings for Cleaner 6 to make sure that the "compCD" settings are correct? Set up this movie to be recompressed.

1.21.03 Create fullMovie of "ErlDmSrt" and place in both fullMovie folders. We already have a compressed version of this. Get the FCP project file of this from me.
