Realtime Music Synthesis

Here are links to the topics I discussed:

Max/MSP is available from Cycling74 (previously sold by Opcode) and was originally developed by Miller Puckette at IRCAM, the french computer music institute. (see history) There are many similar applications. Workalikes include Pd (developed by Puckette) and jMax (developed at IRCAM).

Supercollider is now available free. It is totally awesome and everyone should try it out. A linux port is in progress.

OpenSoundControl page describes and provides C implementations of a musical communications protocol over modern networking hardware.

If you would like to do either Max/MSP or Supercollider programming on projects, send email to xinwei@lcc.gatech.edu. His work utilizes gestural music interfaces, sound processing, and synthesis.

If you are interested in discussing sound processing at Georgia Tech, join the audio at cc mailing list. It has been pretty quiet thus far.
