Keith Elshaw

My background is in sound engineering / production and broadcasting. I write, I sing, I dance (better all the time, I hope)! I am priviledged to live in a hot tango city, Montreal, Québec (where I moved in 2000 to enjoy a full tango life). It's a very special place with a unique and strong culture (les Québecois). It seems to me the heart of these fine people and that of the Argentino beat very nicely together.

My days are spent staring at little squiggly lines on my computer screen as I restore and clean tango recordings so I can play great music for dancers. In those mountains and valleys of audio wave-forms are the artifacts of 60 years (more or less) of rude treatment by record companies and others which beg for a little micro-surgery. It's not unusual for me to spend 10 minutes or more working on 3/4 of a second. Lot's of fun. You know how many seconds there are in 5,000 songs ...(!)

But, oh, the joy of hearing the greats with no clicks, no dust, no noise.

I invite you to peruse the far-too-many pages (but still growing) of ToTANGO and hear some of my restoration samples; read some of the over 120 pages. It's up-dated constantly. (It's neither here nor there, but I did not put the references to ToTANGO pages on this site).

I love email.
