- General
- Phil should be back next week
- Phil: Please bring camera for on-line pictures of hackfest members
- On Eric Brown's behalf: Can we get more disk space for posting of jffs2 images, etc..?
- Project updates - "this week we did; by next week we will have accomplished"
- Access Grid (Eric Brown, Toby, Matt, Phil)
- Milestones:
- Eric: Try Blackdown 1.3
- Not done (intimate issues), will do
- Toby: Update HOWTO, specifics
- Also: Hope to get rat compiled
- Eric: Try to get audio resource mgr working
- Eric: Beacon multicast network monitor project with Matt:
- Get flat file format (see Swiki)
- Crestron: (Ansley, Eric Brown, Matt)
- Milestones:
- Ansley: Need straight through serial (already handled with Phil?)
- Also(Ansley): "Snoop" on traffic signals
- Matt: Derive a list of specific changes to be done (e.g. fix mislabeling)
- Not done, will try to put on Swiki today
- Unsure of Ansley's progress (he's working at home)
- Eric: No time. Wants to look at voice activated control. [Matt: Daughter-card very likely necessary for receiving triggers over net. Raises security questions. Ansley has documentation]
- 3210: (Drew, Ross, Dean, Phil, and Eric Hudson) (depends on Eric Brown also for now)
- Milestones:
- Meet Tue 6/26/2001 2PM to brainstorm on HW/Project ideas
- Met, but incomplete due to Phil's absence, not rescheduled (for Phil to decide)
- Eric: Do intimate writeup
- Still working on this. Should have done by the end of this week.
- Ross: Do intimate setup
- Awaiting intimate instructions? (Unsure of this)
- Ross: Sketch outline for projects and homeworks on Swiki. Bring hardcopy to discuss next week.
- Drew: iPAQ specific device related driver (HW idea)
- (with Eric Hudson): Come up with modified project1 and/or homework1 with bootldr (in another safe area).

- Unsure of progress on this item. Did Phil reject this HW idea?
- test ability to load kernel from fs
- No (with current jffs2-based distribution), but can use another partition possibly (Dean's project, unsure of progress due to his absence)
- Update from meeting Tue 6/26/2001:
- Drew: Ideas for HW: linux bootparams; ARM boot process
- Ross will email a prior TA named Eric regarding ARM boot process details
- TODO: Come up with more ideas
- Do something with mmap?
- Need more ideas
- Immersadesk: (Toby, Phil, Matthew, Matt)
- Milestones (Toby):
- Invent a slightly more sophisticated demo using popup menu & approx 5 more
- APIs:
- Sketch out idea and mail out over weekend to mailing list
- Has put readme on swiki describing application. Did not email.
- App doesn't include the (approx) 5 additional APIs. Will research higher level libraries that work with CaveLIB and give us a short report next week (e.g. numeric visualization libraries, etc...)
- Then do the idea
- Stuck on popup menus and pointer for now, no indication that this couldn't be done by next meeting
- iPAQ device driver (USB/IR/etc): (Drew, Eric Hudson, Matthew)
- Milestones:
- Eric Hudson: (writable proc stuff known now)
- Come up with an idea for using DMA
- Implement IR project using DMA.
- Drew and Eric Hudson:
- get LED control proof of concept working
- Neither could get it working. Will look at earlier skiff GPIO CS3210 project to see if the interface is similar.
- Drew:
- Continue IR project writeup, switch to using speakers instead of LED
- iPAQ security: (Jamie, Eric Brown, Matthew, Phil)
- Milestones:
- Eric Brown: (trying to learn freeS/WAN issues:
- triple DES not optimized on ARM? –> perf primitives?
- May help, but would require lots of work to use. Awaiting performance tests, etc...
- Will prepare freeS/WAN/ipsec tutorial for July 5th
- Will Flesh out/redo intimate and familiar HOWTOs
- Familiar: Done, Intimate: See 3210 item
- Jamie:
- Will test dynamic stuff (addressing/server must teardown?)

- There appear to be options for fixing this (RoadWarrior config w/RSA keys)
- Still working on this, having freeS/WAN and gateway problems, will do by next week
- Later: performance testing and auto-LAWN

- Buy adapter and give Phil receipt (Phil did this already)
- Attempt java software
- Done, limited audio quality
- Getting Aware Home:Software algorithm contact
- Has C version of software, will use/attempt it.
- Will contact Erwin at WRL RE: sound quality, sample size, etc...
- Will look for previous UROC project(s) that had highly parallelizable algorithm
- Spd/Aware Home: (Nathan, Shyam, Ross, Toby, Matthew, Phil)
- Milestones:
- Matt Wolf: get access for jedi for students
- Ross: get dist spd training from another attendee
- Shyam: will look over it again
- All: Sameer's assignment: Run it!
- Next step) Revisit design
- Will meet Tue @ 2PM, Nathan will email reminders and get most recent UP demo code (from earlier email?)
- Video Kiosk: (Ross, Shyam, Phil)
- Milestones:
- Ross: May explore security issues
- Not done, prefer to get some prototype working first
- Also: Will find and evaluate linux support and display quality
- Not done. Ross didn't get CD, but will search for linux S/W on host computer (Neil's unavailable).
- Meet Tuesday 6/26/2001 at 3PM:
- No show of Shyam. Ross was around but unaware of Matt's presence. Therefore, meeting didn't occur. Rescheduled for Tue@3PM
