Spring2002 Extra Credit Problems
I think it would be worth establishing some ground rules on the extra credit problems before everyone goes dashing off to do them - since there seemed to be interest in doing them.
- First, I think it would be worth anyone who wants to do one, coming to see me and selecting one from a set that I will put together. The reason is that I don't want to have several people start working on the same problem and then find they have too much overlap to post both problems.
- Second, I suggest that anyone who wants to do this first start by putting up a page with the basic problem description so that everyone knows what you are working on and you can stake out your problem.
- Third, you should NOT dump html from word or a word processor. You can certainly generate equations that way, but if you dump html code it will be a nightmare to edit.
- Fourth, the problem will build incrementally, much like the project you are doing. I will be giving the credit for doing the model and for doing the control system extension. I don't want to make this too onerous, but I do want you to get the right practise, and that does involve doing a bit more than just the first part (because the second midterm and final will focus on different issues).
