Volunteer Opportunities
One great way of meeting people and to feel good is to volunteer for community service organizations. What are some various ways around Atlanta to get involved?
- Atlanta Humane Society - I volunteer with the Atlanta Humane Society as an adoption counseler, for special events, and for pet-facilitated therapy, where we take puppies to nursing homes and hospitals to help cheer people up. Everyone I've met who works there is super friendly, and they are really, really flexible about when you can work and how much you can work. Plus you get to play with cute animals and help out a good cause. They are a no-kill facility, so you don't have to worry as much about being heartbroken as you would with other humane societies. To volunteer, you fill out a form and they have you attend an information session, and then you get trained on the various types of volunteer activities. ~Julie Kientz (julie@cc)
