As you probably have guessed my name is Kevin.
I've been doing improv for about 2 1/2 years now. It all started one afternoon when one of my friends grabbed me and said "Hey, there is try outs for an improv show after school today! You should give it a try!" Seeing as I had nothing better to do I showed up and was cast in "Unintended: A night of improv" on team Oblivious.
"Its like a drug, only it doesn't kill you." This was actually was used to describe the Lindy Hop, but I think the idea is about right for improv. It is a fantastic experience when its good, a good one when its bad, and life changing when its awesome.
Since my indoctrination to the world of improv, I proceeded onto take classes through Jet City Improv in Seattle, namely the Highschool class and Improv Dojo. This was done as a part of my senior project to found the Eastlake Highschool Improv Team. During my senior year I performed in six different shows, five with the EHS team, and one through the Jet City Class. Although I feel as though I have completed quite a bit for my limited time in improv I try to be humble. I'm still a newbie, and if you ever see me forgetting that, give me a good smack on the back of the head!
I owe huge thank you's to Silas Lindenstein (EHS drama team advisor) Jet City, Ian Schempp (Director of High School class with Jet City) Kate Jaeger (Jet City performer and advisor for my senior project) and all the awesome Improv people at EHS! You guys and gals are awesome! I wish you all the best!
