Girl Scout Workshops
We are working with the Girl Scout Council of Greater Atlanta. We started working with them in 2005. We do 4 hour workshops
with them using LEGO Mindstorms NXT robots, PicoCrickets, Scratch, and Storytelling Alice. We also run 1 hour workshops during the
Dad and Me, and Mom and Me weekends. A Dad and Me weekend is when Dad's go camping with their daughters. A Mom and Me weekend is when Mom's go camping with their daughters. We also train camp conselors to teach LEGO NXT robots, PicoCrickets, and Scratch during the Girl Scout summer camps.
Girl Scout Workshops 2009-2010
Girl Scout Workshops 2008-2009 1084 total from Sept 2008 to Aug 2009. About 694 girls during the school year, Timber Ridge had about 300 girls participate in Crickets, and 25 with Scratch. Pine Acres had 65 do LEGO robots. We ran 15 four hour workshops with about 455 girls attending.
Girl Scout Workshops 2007-2008 A total of 1595 girl scouts got some introduction to computing between May 2007 and August 2008. About 1295 had an introduction during the school year and another 200 had time with PicoCrickets at the girl scout camps and about 100 had the robots at the girl scout camp. We ran 10 four hour workshops with about 428 girls attending.
Girl Scout Workshops 2006-2007 About 372 girl scouts had some introduction to computing from May 2006 to May 2007. We ran 4 four-hour workshops with about 80 girls attending.
Girl Scout Workshops 2005-2006 About 190 girls had some introdution to computing in May 2005 to May 2006. We ran 2 four-hour workshops with about 40 girls attending.
