How to get started

This assumes you have a basic knowledge of HTML. If you don't, please find a tutorial or other source. You'll need it to do this.

So, you want to have a web server? Well, using Squeak, there are several possibilities. The one we used was the Pluggable Web Server, or PWS. This comes built into Squeak, and with a couple of additional downloads, works wonders. We decided to use the PWS for several reasons. For one thing, it's built into Squeak. Since we already know Squeak, the fact that we did not have an entirely new system was a major bonus. Also, since our instructor, Mark, created it, we had a very powerful resource at hand. Our final reason for using the PWS is that it could set up web pages that run Squeak code on them. This dynamic generation of information was essential to what we had planned.

The information on the PWS can be found at http://www.cc.gatech.edu/fac/mark.guzdial/squeak/pws/. It has some very good and easy to understand instructions on how to get the basic structure up and running, so we refer you to those documents to start.

Ok, so you've got the basic server up and running. The next thing you want to do is decide what you want to be able to do with your web page.
