Lab 10 - Spring 2001 (Due 4/11/2001)

Black Box Testing - Buzzter.com

The focus of this lab is black box testing - that is, testing the behavior of an application and whether it meets the functional requirements of the software. In black box testing, you want to derive a set of input conditions that will fully exercise all functional requirements.

This lab must be done in pairs - teams of 2 people only

You may select your own partner for this lab.

What you will be doing

Given a real world problem, design a detailed solution to the problem. Then develop black box test cases to test all the functional requirements of the application.
You are not required to implement your solution at this time.

Here's what you should do:

Problem Description

Your team has just been hired by Buzzter.com, an internet company that provides an MP3 search engine, allowing users to share MP3 files. Buzzter.com has become one of the most popular sites on the Internet, attracting music lovers from around the world.

Unfortunately though, Buzzter.com has recently been sued for copyright-infringement and has been ordered by the court to filter out a list of protected songs. They have one week to demonstrate to the court that they have a filtering solution if they want to stay in business. So they desperately need your help!

You must design a graphical user interface to replace their old one. The new interface allows users to add songs to a song list for sharing with other users but filters out the protected songs. You don't have to worry about handling uploading songs or any of that - they already have that technology.

There's one big thing you do have to worry about though - users will try to get around whatever filters you create by disguising song titles and artist's names by using
There are many more elaborate disguises expected but these are the only one Buzzter.com wants you to worry about for now.

User Requirements

Your application must do the following:
