Lab 1, Part 1: Introduction to Email

Configuring and Using Email Clients

If you are currently using an email client such as Eudora, Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger, you will need to configure it so that you can access your GT Prism account (gtxxxxx@mail.gatech.edu or firstInitiaLastNameNumber@mail.gatech.edu, aliases are fine as long as they are gatech.edu) through GT Spectrum Mail.

Assignment: Email Turnin

Once you have your email client of choice working with your GT Prism account, email your TA (you can find out who this is here) from your client with the information listed below. The "from" address MUST be your GT Prism email address (gtxxxxx@mail.gatech.edu or firstInitiaLastNameNumber@mail.gatech.edu, alias is fine as long as it is from gatech.edu). We don't want to receive any email from your mindspring, hotmail, AOL, etc. account. If the email is not from your GT Prism account, you will not receive any credit for this part of the lab.

Here's what to include:

Using the CoWeb

CoWeb is short for Collaborative Website. This is where you will find everything you will need for this course (like this lab!): all of your homeworks, labs, projects, announcements from the instructors and the TAs, answers to your questions, etc.

So let's learn how to use the CoWeb!

Explaination: How to use the CoWeb

  1. If you have any problems, comments, or concerns about this assignment, post them to the Spring 2008 Lab 1 Questions page. If you have a question or a comment to make about a particular part of the class or a certain assignment, post it to the correct page. Note: If a box popups asking for a username and password use: attach/ carmen.
  2. Go to the Spring 2008 Lab 1 Questions page by clicking on this link. You will see that this page has a few posts on it.
  3. If you have any questions about any part of Lab 1, post them here. Before posting your question, read through the other questions to make sure that no one else has already posted the same question. Also, if you know the answer to someone else's question, feel free to respond!

CoWeb Tips and Tricks

If you already know some HTML, most of that will work on the CoWeb as well. You can find some CoWeb Tips and Tricks that shows examples of neat things you can do on the CoWeb and the "code" to make it happen.
