Yes, that is the one that you should edit. Thanks! Brittany Duncan
You can ignore words that don't exist, and you are required to do a spell check, not a grammar and puncuation check ;-p. As far as saving a 2007 version as an old one - I assume that when you click "save as" and it brings up the little pop up window that lets you name the file - there should be an option to save it and a Microsoft Word 200X or a ".doc MS word 200X". If that doesn't work, bring your computer by someone's office hours and we'll help you figure it out...Unless one of the other TAs has some insight? Toni Walden
Okay, so here's how to save an Office 2007 file in Office 2003 format: 1. In your application, click the Microsoft Office icon in the top left corner of your window (this is the circle with the office logo on it). 2. Click on "Save As..." from the pull-down menu. 3. In the "Save As" window that pops up, give your file a name in the "File name:" box. 4. Directly below the "File name:" box is another box that says "Save as type:". Choose the option that includes "97-2003" in it. For Word, this would be "Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc)", and for PowerPoint, this would be "PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation (*.ppt)". 5. Take your file to any of the computer labs on campus and open it up in Office 2003 to make sure the file works correctly and looks right. You can also set up your Office 2007 to always save files in the 2003 format so that you don't have to follow this process every time you want to save a file. Since most people still operate on the 2003 version, this may be a good idea if you share your Office documents a lot. You can find more information on changing your 2007 save settings here:http://wordprocessing.about.com/od/microsoftword2007/qt/saveprevious.htm. I have Office 2007 running on my machine, so if you have any more questions about this version, please let me know. Joshua Cuneo

Sure. Thanks! Brittany Duncan
There is a downloadable FREE Office suite called StarOffice that you can use for many purposes instead of MS Office. It includes applications that are analogous to Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and you can save files from each in the corresponding Microsoft format. If you choose to use StarOffice instead of MS Office for the 1315 Labs, you must check that the files you generate are readable (i.e. can be opened and look okay) in the corresponding MS products. You could do this by working on your machine using StarOffice, and then taking your files on a USB drive to a library computer for a final check and correction using MS Office. Colin Potts
That sounds like a good place. Thanks! Brittany Duncan
That's fine. Thanks! Brittany Duncan
