Lab 4 Questions Spring 2007

Questions?

Should the motion above and motion below have 2 decimal places like the high, low, and close?

I'm confused about picking out the names for the columns. I've looked in ExcelCode.py and tried Yahoo's historical prices page, but I'm not sure what exactly I'm supposed to be looking for. Really would appreciate some help on this one.
Look at the following site and I think you will find something useful. I got this website from the ExcelCode.py file. http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=DIS Remember that the original data that you opened in your spreadsheet is this information (just older) in the same order. Amanda Bennett

I guess, some how Question link is mixed up. one for Lab 4 and the other is Lab 5.
Fixed. Sorry! Brittany Duncan

anyways, when is the due for the Excel lab?
It's due Monday April 2nd, at the usual time (18:45) Toni Walden

my program will not save. It keeps saying that multiple sheets can not be saved as this file type. It tells me to save them separately first. What do I do?
I can answer that question, though I'm not a T.A. When you try to save as a text file, even if you type .xls in the file path, it will give you this error (I got it, too). On the drop-down box when you do "Save As," you should see "Excel Workbook" as an option. Now, just type your file name and it will be saved as "[yourfilenamegoeshere].xls" which is what you want.

I have a Sakai question, though. (I'm on this page for a reason, you know!) It's not accepting my login & password. Who do I contact about this? -Blake Nixon
Me. Thanks! Brittany Duncan

I have already completed the lab and am trying to post it on our Sakai site, but the assignment is not listed. When do you think the link will be open for submissions?
The assignment is up. Thanks! Brittany Duncan

I have a question about the 2nd to last section of the lab instructions, concerning absolute formulas. I've created the formula to determine the percent changes for each day. However, is there some specific command we are supposed to be performing in the "absolute formulae" paragraph? Or is it just for general reference about Excel formulas> Your comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I don't get what it means by "Motion Below". Is that going to be difference between the close and the low?

I have a problem with changing the format of the dates. i did exactly as the direction told us to, but it does not change at all.

Should we do the decimal place formatting columns G and H? It didn't specify in the instructions, but all other columns are formatted.
Will Cell I2 be blank since we are finding the percent change between the current day and the previous day?
Will Cell I2 be blank since we are finding the percent change between the current day and the previous day?
Isn't the formula for calculating motion above wrong? When I copy it to the rest of the column it copies the answer for row 2, not the appropriate row. Shouldn't the formula be =ABS($E2-$C2)?

I don't think that my graph is correct. Is it supposed to be a series of vertical dots? I thought I followed the instructions exactly.

thanks for including instructions for excel 2007... NOT.
Sorry guys, I didn't even think about the fact that a new version of Office had been released. I will fix this for future semesters. Thanks! Brittany Duncan
this lab is due Wednesday?????
The only way I can get the two pieces to save together is as an excel workbook file - that's okay, right? I know that was answered, I'd just like to hear it from a TA, no offense. Also, do we need a collaboration statement (I'm assuming no) ?
doing this lab with office 2007 is impossible the instructions r awful can tht plz be considered during grading?????????
