Can we access the answers to the Test 1 Review Questions so we can know whether or not we're on the right track while studying? It'd be really helpful. - Kimberly Johnson

Kimberly, we don't post answers to review questions, but we will tell you if they are incorrect if you post them to the Test Review Questions page. Also, you can always visit any TAs office hours for extra help. Thanks! Brittany Duncan

It seems like everyone I talk to is confused as to how we turn in the homework. For instance, the older version of JES had a turn-in menu, but JES 3.0 does not. Furthermore, we're not turning in the homework by e-mailing our T.A., nor are we turning it into the swiki somehow, correct? Also, we're not turning it in on Sakai. The only thing left is Webwork, but we haven't been getting any instruction as to how to do that, either. I registered for Webwork and it doesn't recognize that I'm even taking CS1315, and I don't see a way to somehow add this class to Webwork.

Help!

You should use Sakai. See the Announcements if you have had no notification. The JES turnin menu is a left-over from a very old and unsuccessful experiment. We haven't used it for over a year so it was removed. If you have difficulties with Sakai (e.g. won't accept the password you were given), submit your homework by email to your TA. Colin Potts

Is class really cancelled on Friday, or should I believe the email I just got telling me to go to the Architecture building?

Class really is cancelled Friday. -Brittany Duncan

Do we have a lab assignment due on monday? If so, when will it be posted?
I've updated the schedule. - Bobby Mathew

for lab2, what do you mean by "On the new page, Insert the picture you wrote out (using writePictureTo) from the first part of this Lab"? I don't see anything about a picture in this lab before this direction.
Sorry, the lab's not done yet. I'm still writing it up. It'll be ready tonight. - Bobby Mathew

I've been going to both Stallworth's and Potts' classes this week in order to really understand the concepts and be able to grasp them for the next test. However, they're presenting different stuff every day. How do I know what to be prepared for when one teacher is doing one thing and the other is doing soemthing else. Thanks.

The review is what we expect you to know and what you should expect to be tested on.-Brittany Duncan

When can we expect to have our grades back for hw3 and hw 4? I keep checking on Sakai to see if anything has been posted. What about the labs 2 and 3? After Spring Break like the test grades? Thanks!
Grades for all Homeworks should be posted before Spring Break. As for the Labs and the test, we will be grading those when we return. Please e-mail me if you need those grades and they are not posted. Thanks! Brittany Duncan

Does anyone know how to use GTWireless on Vista? I haven't been able to use it since I upgraded my computer...

JOB OPPORTUNITY

Summer Jobs for Undergraduate CS and CM (or other interested) majors:

We are looking for outgoing and responsible undergraduate students in good academic standing to help with our summer workshops and camps. We offer workshops for high school teachers and train them about computing using Alice, free software from CMU that can be used to create 3D movies and games, and Media Computation, which was developed by Dr. Mark Guzdial at Georgia Tech and is used in 1315 and 1316. With media computation we teach computing concepts by writing programs that manipulate media such as negating an image and reversing a sound.

We also run summer camps for middle and high school students. We use PicoCricket kits which are arts and crafts kits for the digital age. With the Cricket kits kids can create a musical pickle or a stuffed animal that can react to petting. We use Scratch which is free software from MIT that can be used to create 2D animations and games. We use LEGO Mindstorms NXT robots and have kids build robots and program them for several different tasks. We also use Alice and Media Computation.

We will have 2 information meetings this week. One on Wed April 11th and one on Thurs April 12 both from 3pm - 4pm. These will be in room 109 of the College of Computing building.

If you are interested but can't make either meeting contact Felicia Auzla fauzla@cc.gatech.edu.

Thank You,
Barb Ericson
Director, CS Outreach
