When you first start up WinSCP, you will be prompted for a servername and some other information. Fill it out like this picture. (With your own gt-num and password of course) | ![]() |
Now you will see a screen like the one here. The panel on the left shows the files on YOUR computer while the panel on the right shows the files on the web server. Browse around on the left and find the files for your lab. In this example I have all my files on the Desktop. Now what you want to do is create a folder called public_html. Click somewhere on the right side of the screen so that it is "focused" and press the Create Directory Button at the bottom as shown... | ![]() |
Type public_html just like it appears here (case sensitive) and press ok. | ![]() |
On the right, there is now a folder called public_html. This is the folder that we will want to copy everything over to, but first we need to activate it by setting the proper permissions. Basically it's our way of saying "yes, we want this site to be public". Right mouse click on public_html and click properties. | ![]() |
A screen will pop up. Just make it look exactly like this picture and then press OK. | ![]() |
Now double click on the public_html folder. You should see a blank space on the right. While holding down CTRL, click the files you want to copy over. Then click the "Copy" button at the bottom. DO NOT CLICK THE "MOVE" BUTTON! | ![]() |
It should now look something like this... Press the Go Up button TWICE shown here so that you see a long list of gtnums. | ![]() |
Find your gt number and right mouse click on that folder and go to properties. | ![]() |
Make the screen look exactly like this and press OK. | ![]() |
Now go to your URL on prism (mine is shown here) and MAKE SURE that you can see your web REMOVED If not, then go back and make sure that the files did upload properly and that you set all the permissions just like they were shown. | ![]() |
