What is the deal with the new grading?
Alrighty, since the grades were low, there's a curve thing.
For Question 2, if you got partial credit (e.g., gave the answer C) - you now get full credit
For Question 3, you get 2 points added on to your grade for that question; but you cannot receive more than 8 points for that question.
For Questions 7 and 8, you take the maximum points you got out of the 2 questions as your point value.
So, now your test is out of 80 points. Multiply this total by 1.25 to get your final grade out of 100. Amanda Bennett

Just a suggestion . . . the wording on the assignments page makes it seem like its a waste of time to turn in a program that doesn't work at all - I know it says you can get partial credit, but hey I'm stupid and just didn't bother to turn my program in when it didn't work. I didn't realize I could have gotten 30 or 40 points for incorrect code.

So, section B doesnt have the option to switch to Friday? That doesnt seem fair...
The aim is to grade everyone's finals as professionally and fairly as possible. Having the final on Friday makes grading so many papers by the Monday grade deadline very difficult. The two sections of the second midterm required two instructors and a set of TAs in rotation (never fewer than three) to work from 9am until after 7pm. With the Section A final we won't be able to start grading until at least 3pm on Friday, so you can see the problem. Tired graders are grumpy graders. By giving Section A students the option to take the final on Monday, we hope to move much of our workload earlier in the week and not rush the job on Friday. Colin Potts
