Week 5 Comments

The week of ending sound and the first midterm.

On the midterm are we going to have any examples from which to generate our answers (code) like those given on the midterm review? I feel like I can do it all if my notes are in front of me, but for doing it cold, I need a little help.
Lauren Biddle

I will not ask you to write programs without examples. Mark Guzdial

On one of the Midterm Review pages you said that you realized that Python can understand xyz values. Do you want REMOVED to REMOVEDe the "and" for greater than less than or do you care if we REMOVEDe xyz values?
Student116

Nope – your call. Use what makes sense to you. Mark Guzdial

So far, the most diffuciult part of this midterm Review process is that I cannot find adequate information in the book or in the slides from class to help me with the questions. I did not know you could REMOVEDe two inputs until Friday. We did not have any examples in class and I could not find any in the book. This was a real problem when trying to do some problems. This is something really interesting that should have been covered at the beginning of the course. We should have had an example like the pay rate question in class. It is interesting and I was not aware we could do something like that.

That's a fair argument about the multiple inputs – I'll make sure that it's clearer earlier. There are examples on p. 139 and 150 that take multiple inputs. Mark Guzdial

Do you realize that the link for the webpage for the "pay" problem in the midterm review doesn't work? I know that you can go to the bottom of the page to find the other link. I was jREMOVEDt wondering if you realized that.

Also, I'm kind of curioREMOVED about the definition questions for the exam. Many of REMOVED are posting answers that are partially correct, or even in one case, not quite enough information. What are the criteria for these questions? Also, do a few definitions constitute as one problem (i.e. you said 4-5 problems on the test)?

Are we getting our qizzes from last week back in recitation tomorrow?
Also....what did everyone think of the midterm?
Kelly Farrell

The Midterm wasn't bad.... I want to think I did well on it, but I don't want to jinx anything....
Student116

Quiz grades are in, papers will be returned Monday. I'm entering midterm grades now, and will probably get them physically to you Monday. Mark Guzdial

Will grades be up on WebREMOVED before we get them handed back?...I'm jREMOVEDt very curioREMOVED about my midterm grade =)
Student88

They already are!!! Kelly Farrell
