Go to the page, and then use the "edit" button in the red menu bar. Student1951
"Turnin" isn't what you're supposed to mail; we want you to "turn in" the assignment by sending an email. You're right that it should by sent from your GT address, e.g. gtXXXXX@mail.gatech.edu or gtXXXXX@prism.gatech.edu (whichever OIT told you when it issued you the account). Student1951
It's fixed now. Student1951
You can follow the instructions listed for if your computer does not have a virus, or use a computer in the library, student center, or other computer lab on campus. Also, just to give you a heads up, this class may be more difficult and time consuming if you do not have a personal computer. Student1594
Since 2001, all students are required to own a computer. See http://www.sco.gatech.edu/ Student2243
After signing in to webmail, there's a taskbar at the top of the screen that begins with Inbox. Options is the 4th one over inbetween folders and search. Student1594
Try using the edit button and add your name that way Student1594
Just to clarify...If you are confused as to how to add your name to the Who's Who page, scroll down to the bottom of the Who's Who page and look for a text box, like the one at the bottom of this page. Type in your name surrounded by astericks and click the "add to this page" button. Then look on the newly updated Who's Who page for your name and a "create this page" link. Click on the link and you will be taken to your new page, complete with a new text box for you to type in. Lauren Walker
There is supposed to be an add to this page box at the bottom of the Who's Who page where you add your name surrounded by asterics. Currently, that box is mysteriously missing, so you can click on edit, and a text bos will come up. Scroll to the bottom and add your name surrounded by asterics to the page, and click save (without clicking the lock box) Then it will go back to the page, and you can scroll down to your name and click on the create page button where you can create and edit your page. Student1594
There is no response sent after you send your email. If you sent it to the correct address, you can safely assume that it was sent, and your email program should save a copy of what you sent so you can verify it went to the right place. Student1594
This happened becuase someone locked the page. I just checked and it is no longer locked. You should be able to edit the page now to add your name. And as a reminder, DO NOT lock the page when you add your name. Student1594
The add to this page box has been fixed on the Who's Who page, so you no longer need to edit the page to add your name. Simply add your name in the add to this page box and add it. Student1594
The page has been locked to prevent people from accidentally deleting other people's pages. An add to this page box has been added so that you can simply add your name to the add to this page box, and then click the button, and you will not need to edit the page. Student1594
The page has been locked by the professor, and as such, the password is not public. See the answer to the above question as to how to complete the asignment. Sorry for any confusion. Student1594
It was probably accidentally deleted. Try reposting it. Student1594
You don't really need one, but webmail is a pain to use as a primary email source. It would probably be a good idea to at least try one out. Student1594
Any software you need for this class can be found in at least one computer terminal on campus. Try the library, or French cluster, or student center. Student1594
Not if you're installing from the CD. If you're installing from the website, then you need internet service. Student56
Look at the TA Contact Info REMOVED and go to their office hours. Your TAs are here to help you! :) Student1919
We're still working on the TA list and matchups to students. We'll make an announcement once the matchups have been made. Until then, you may go to or contact any TA that's on the TA Contact Info page. Student56
This is because the TA-Student pairing haven't been made yet. We're still working on the matchups. We'll make an announcement once the matchups have been made. Student56
Well, for anyone with the same question, who maybe hasn't figured it out. You are supposed to paste the actual picture that you saved to your computer with the writePictureTo() function, so there should be a picture in your word file when you turn it in. Student1594
If you got a path error and you are sure that you typed in the path correctly, you may want to make sure the directory actually exists. Try copying "C:\JES\mediasources\" into the address bar of your internet explorer. Does it work? If not, make sure you have correctly copied your mediasources directory from the CD. Student549
It should say lab 3, you have the right file. And yes, correct everything that spell check catches. Student549
If you have copied the code into the recipe area? And if you have, did you hit the load button? Student549
Loading simply alerts JES that the information is there for it's use. If you actually want the function to run, you must then go to the command area and type in the function, i.e. example1() or whatever your function is that you want to run, and then hit enter, and it should run that function, or provide you with any errors that may exist while running it. Student1594
When you go to Turnin->Assignment a window should pop up. On the top of the page it says "Assignment to submit". There's a drop down box that lets you pick the assignment to turn in. Student56
That depends. I would have to look at your code. First check your spacing to make sure that everything is indented properly, and then check where you added your answeres to question 1 and question 2. Have you commented those out? If not, add a # in front of every line in your answer and try to run it again. Student1594
gt# please. Student56
The CD in the back of your book. Student1951
Look here: Course Software (JES) Student56
spell check the words... Student1919
i.e. If spellcheck says something is misspelled that really isn't, such as the name of a programming language, don't change it's spelling, hit ignore. Student1594
5 pm is the deadline Student1919
An office package is required as part of your GT Computer Ownership agreement. If you don't feel like you need it, then just go to the library or use a friend's computer. If you want to buy it, then the GT Bookstore should have it for the students price (which is a lot cheaper than getting it somewhere else at retail price). Student56
The menus and animation controls in PowerPoint 2003 are a little different than in previous versions. The lab assignment has been updated with instructions for using PowerPoint 2003. Student1951
5 PM for the section A, and 12 midnight for section B for lab 3 ONLY. In the future, there is a 7 PM deadline for everyone on all asignments. Student1594
If you right click on the bar that has the print, new sheet, etc. (the one with all the little icons) and make sure that "drawing" is checked. if it is not checked, check it. A tool bar should come up somewhere. Check everywhere. It may come up at the bottom of the screen. Student1919
Your grade will be on webwork when your TA grades your asignment and posts it. Not all TAs grade at the same time, so your grade may show up soon after you turn in your assignment, or it may take some time. With the exception of the first two assignments which may be graded late because the TAs didn't know who their students were until recently, you should expect a grade no more than 2 weeks after your asignment is turned in, and if at that point, you still do not have one, you should contact your TA about the issue. Student1594
You can either install JES on your friends computer, or use the instructions at the end of lab2 for how to attach your submission directly to the turnin page. Student1594
Lab 3 didn't have sections. There are two sections of the class. Section A meets at 9 AM, section B meets at 4 PM. Student1594
Look on the Syllabus
No. It has to be an actual website. Student56
you can type it into JES, but I would use notepad or wordpad to write out your HTML. You will save the page as an html file and attach it to the coweb. Got it?! read the lab directions for more detailed info. :) Student1919
Either. Student1919
Make sure that your pics are labeled correctly in the HTML. If I recall correctly, the names are case sensitive, so you may want to check that out. Student1919
And png, but for the most part, you're right. It's actually the browser that limits the file types, not HTML itself. Mark Guzdial
Nice idea, but I don't know how to write the grading criteria for that so that it's fair and objective. Mark Guzdial
<center> and </center> Mark Guzdial
First, check FAQ on how to ask questions about HTML. Second, if you don't have a complete URL for your src=, you have to have the file uploaded to the same place as your HMTL file. Mark Guzdial
You have a chocolate cap and creamy filling? :-) Mark Guzdial
Me neither :-). Mark Guzdial
Deep question – are you asking theologically, metaphysically, or philosophically? Mark Guzdial
I'm at office hours and no one is visiting me!!! Student1919
Yes – email any TA or instructor or me. Mark Guzdial
On the page that you upload. Mark Guzdial
Just re-upload – the link will always go to the latest version. Mark Guzdial
Then just copy-paste the URL. Mark Guzdial
REMOVED red X means that it's not viewable. Be sure not to have spaces or underscores in your file names! Mark Guzdial (Y'know, if you sign your postings here, we can check your pages and see what's going on.)
If it's showing up anywhere on the Web, you can get its URL so that you can put it in your webpage. Try right-clicking on the image then view the properties so that you copy out the URL. Mark Guzdial
Nope. Mark Guzdial
It should show up on the top left of your browser. Title is NOT the title of the page. It will not show up on the page. Student56
REad the FAQ on how to post HTML questions. The title shows up in the title of the WINDOW – nothing on the page. Mark Guzdial
It's okay to leave the pictures on the Who's Who page, but you can also delete them from the Who's Who page content (they'll still be uploaded and will still work on your HTML page). Mark Guzdial
That's fine. Mark Guzdial
Look at the filename that you uploaded. Any spaces in it? "_" underscore characters? Perhaps sign your note so that we can look at your page and help you? Mark Guzdial
("u" is not "you" – English, please.) Click the Help button in the upper right. Basically, *http://www.cnn.com* will you give you a link to a website. Mark Guzdial
Try going to this page: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_colors.asp it may help! Student1919
Yes. <!– comment goes here –> Student56
alink is active link; vlink is visited link and link is just a generic link; vlink is when you've already visited the link. Most people just manipulate the colors. alink is what happens when you roll over the link.
e-mail a TA. BUT, if you're getting a username/password prompt while you're trying to attach things to the page, the username is attach and the password is carmen. Student1919
I don't understand exactly why you need an info button? Maybe IM or go to a TA's office hours and explain more clearly. What tool bar are you talking about? in what program? Be a little more specific please! Student1919
This page gives you a nice chance to see how to work with your background. http://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_bodybgcol Student1919
Max of 10 pts extra credit. Student56
Make sure that your webpage includes EVERYTHING we tell you to do in the lab assignment. You can add extra paragraphs, but be sure the info we request is there! Student1919
Maybe a link to your page will help us understand what your problem is. Student56
If the instructions doesn't specify, you can make it anything you like. Student56
Upload your webpage as "index.html" Student549
You may want to take it to a Ta's office hours. Student549
Every time you upload to the coweb, files with the same filenames are given a number. Your first might be "Lab4.html", If you upload it again, the coweb will save it as "Lab4.1.html" and so on... "Lab4.2.html","Lab4.3.html"... Change the link in your primary page to link to the newest version. The trick will just be to see what the latest version is. If you click the attach button like you normally would to upload your html file, you will see a list of files under "Attachments to this REMOVED" click on the one that says Lab4.html, note the url on the top of your browser. It will say something like http://coweb.cc.gatech.edu:8888/uploads/cs1315/####/Lab4.#.html. Note that last part (Lab4.#.html) and then change the link in your primary page to whatever that is. Student549
I don't see the code. Email me if you still need help with that. Student56
It's fine as long as it's not copyrighted. Student56
You need a semicolon after PopUp(); and you need to watch how you use your quotes ("). Student56
Sure. If it's not copyrighted Student56
Somewhere on your webpage Student56
Looks like it's working now. Student56
Your host is acme.gatech.edu. Email a TA if you still have a problem Student56
Make sure you don't have your cap lock on. It's cap sensative Student56
User your acme/mail ID for your GTnum. Folks, TAs and instructors are not required to be answering questions all through the night the day that the assignment is due! The username/password for attaching hasn't changed. For help on extra credit (e.g., Prism uploads, JavaScript pop-ups), take it to office hours, please. Every time you upload a new version of any file to CoWeb, it creates a new filename/URL with another number. Right click on the file in the list on the Attach page to see the new URL. Mark Guzdial
Yes, if you uploaded them right. Why not sign your message so that we can check your page, or get help via email? Mark Guzdial
Look on the FAQ page. Student56
For those who are having trouble that their HTML looks fine on their computer but won't work on CoWeb: Be sure that the CASE of your filenames MATCH EXACTLY. On the Web, picture.jpg is NOT the same as picture.JPG. Me.jpg is not the same as me.jpg. The case of the characters in the filename must match between what you uploaded to the Attach page and what's referenced in the image tags of your HTML. (Someone just came by with this problem.) Mark Guzdial
If you lock your page and forget the password, any of the TAs can unlock it for you. Mark Guzdial
you need to attach the file directly on the coweb. Student56
Since the idea is to make nested while loops that do the same thing as the code that is already there, then it should not take a significant amount of time longer. If it's taking a lot longer, then there's most likely a mistake in your code. Student1594
Yes, it must write to a place on your computer so that you can open it in excel and edit it in the excel portion of the lab Student1594
Rember to specify the output location using getMediaPath() to make grading easier for the TAs Jonny
On line 33 of your program, you're referencing the file DisneyPrices.txt, but it's not there. So, either you reference the right file, or you put DisneyPrices.txt there. Mark Guzdial
You can just delete the webpage file you created and start over opening the .txt file in Excel. Make sure to follow the instructions very closely to get the desired result. Student1594
Did you change the output file so that it was a file that actually exists on your computer? You need to have a file called disneyprices.txt saved in the loaction on your computer that you are asking the program to write to in order for it to find the file. Student117
Try this. Select the first cell (the one with the formula) along with the rest of the cells. Then hit CTRL + D. It should copy the entire formula down. Let me know if it doesn't work. Student56
Most likely you entered the formula wrong according to how Office 2003 expects it. Try looking at the help menu in Excel to see how you should be formatting it. Also, if you would rather, the computers in the library should have the same version of Excel that the lab was written with and so you should be more able to follow the instructions exactly if you do your asignment there. If you are still having trouble, try going to see a TA at office hours where they can help you with more specific problems Student1594
Why don't you try it and see? Student1594
There could be many reasons. Make sure you are doing it exactly the way you did it before. It also might have something to do with the absolute references, the $L$1 things. Make sure you have your absolute and relative references in the right places. Student1594
Yes, you can consider the first percent change to be 0 or blank since there is no previous day to compare it to. Student1594
The chart must be turned in. You should not have to save two files. You should be able to save both the chart and the spreadsheet in one file. Student1594
The little screen should be able to type the column in itself when you click on G. Try clicking on G when the screen shows up and see if that works. Student1594
Make sure it says something like this: outputFileLocation = r"C:\\Documents and Settings\\Administrator\\My Documents\\DisneyPrices.txt" (with 2 backslashes) Student56
If you did it correctly, then no you should not have needed to do anything else. You also shouldn't need to create the file yourself. The program should generate the file itself, just like in HW4 with index.html What exactly did you put for outputFileLocation=? Was it just the directory, or the director plus the file? Did the file have the correct extension .txt? A lot of different things could be going on. Try IMing a TA or professor. They should be able to give more specific help quicker. Student1594
Select the different sheet (by using the tab at the bottom) and click on the G column. Student56
What's the error message? Student56
They're suppose to be red or black. Red meaning negative value and bold black means position. You're suppose to make it that way using Format->Conditional Formatting. I guess I don't quite understand your question. Student56
Label the column "Motion Above" and "Motion Below". Just like how we have "High", "Low", "Close", and "Volume". Student56
7/28/04 - 10/28/04 Student56
If it's something like "The maximum number of data points you can use in a data series for a 2-D chart is 32,000. If you want to use more than 32,000 data points, you must create two or more series." Then don't worry about it. If it's not that then I'm not quite sure. Try clicking on a different dot and do that step again. Student56
Try selecting another data point. Student56
The formula should be something like =(E3-E2)/E2 on the second line and you should be able to select the entire column and type CTRL + D. See if that works. Student56
It might be. If the function is not producing any numbers, and staying as a function, then that means it's interpreting it as just text, so you probably wrote it wrong. Check the help menu in excel and make sure you are writing it correctly according to how your version of Excel expects it. Student1594
Make sure you save it as a .xls file. You should be able to save the file as multiple sheets. Email or IM a TA if you're still having problems. Student56
Did you switch it to percent? I think it's all positive if you didn't format the column. Student56
re-read the beginning of the Excel portion of the lab. That should help. Lauren Walker
you only need to turn in the ExcelCode.py if you attempted the extra credit portion. Lauren Walker
It's hard to figure out you spacing error because it isn't formatted correctly on the coweb. Try posting it again after reading the FAQ Lauren Walker
