Anybody still having trouble?

Please remove your name from this list if you've now got JES working for you. We're trying to figure out if anyone is still having issues.

tried the alternate instructions, everything seems successful until I actually try to run the program, then I get an error message saying that I should reinstall JES, which I get even after reinstalling it.

I ahve JES installed, but when I pull up the batch file only a black box comes up and not a white one and I cannot type in the box that does appear!

I have installed java and jes from the cd. First of all there is no file named jes.bat. I did open up the prompt that's just called jes and I get the exception that several people have listed above.

I installed java and jes from the cd. Didn't work. I got the common error that you talked about: "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: jython-21"

I tried the alternative method for installing jes and when i tried the installation instructions that were on the jython website and when i typed the installation things in the ms prompt I got "Bad Command or File name" every time.

I'm running windows 98, which seems to be the problem for a lot of other people.

Like many other people I am getting the "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: jython when I try and open jes. I did every option including the alternative instructions. Thank you.

I am also getting the "Exception in thread "main"java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: jython error message. so i tried the alternative way. I got as far as where you type
java jython-21 in the msdos prompt and this box pops up headed java saying this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down

Like others, CD installation did not work so I tried the alternate instructions on the website.

I followed the instructions exactly but when I type the last command line
..\jython JESProgram.py
I keep getting the same error message "Bad Command or file name"
I dir on the jes-nc directory which shows that the JESProgram.py does exist. I have also downloaded the latest version of java. But nothing works...

Unfortunately, my CD does not work either. Java installed fine but when I try to open jes.bat, I get the "exception in main thread java.lang.NoClassDefFound Error: JES program" error message.

This probably means that you have an old version of Java installed. Try updating at http://www.java.sun.com Mark Guzdial

All of these suggest that you're running an old version of Java. Try the latest JES and the latest version of Java. Mark Guzdial

Not true for me I have latest and get the same error

A common explanation is that people drag in the JES ICON but not the whole JES FOLDER. The classes that JES is looking for are in the rest of the JES folder. You have to drag the whole folder to your hard disk so that JES can find the right classes. Mark Guzdial

am able to compile program but not able to run java

When I finish downloading the "newest version" of JES it gives me a message that I should reinstall it at a later time, I keep doing this, but get the same message. I have Windows XP...deibre@sbcglobal.net
