Nifty for Nerds
- http://www.kurzweilcyberart.com/ - A poetry assistant that can suggest lines in the style of an assortment of poets. Contrary to what it says on the website, it does work with NT.
- http://www.junkbusters.com - A proxy server that you can configure to block out ads and cookies. I use it religiously. For a good block list, go to: http://www.waldherr.org/blocklist
- Internet Anagram Server, where you can discover the dark anagrams lurking behind apparently normal words. (eg, the happy "Valentine's day" is really "A vile, nasty end").
- The Onion, a great parody paper
- BBSpot, more parody, much more geeky.
- http://babelfish.altavista.com, a way of automatically translating documents into different languages. For fun, translate something from English to Spanish and then back to English, and then repeat this several times. The text will gradually diverge from its original meaning.
- http://rinkworks.com/dialect/, a parody of Babelfish! Translate your documents into Redneck, Moron, Elmer Fudd, and other fake languages.
- http://www.adcritic.com - Great commercials
- http://www.mediatrip.com/ - Amateur movies. See George Lucas in Love
- http://fishdot.org/starwars/liquor.html - Star Wars liquor
