evaluations for The American Prison System
The collection of articles examine the nitty gritty details of prisons as they have evolved in the brief past, espcially how they've responded to the changes in the policies from Washington and the state governments. This book definitely brings up a long list of problems with the US prison system. I don't think it does very much to explore how the system may be amended, but that's something that I suspect would require a lifetime's worth of study.
